COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS & POLICIES

We follow all local mandates and ordinances. Due to the nature of this, things can change from day to day and our event will follow all local requirements so please be prepared to follow the city of Chicago’s requirements during the market.

Maker and attendee safety is our top priority.

  • We do not require masks indoors unless there is an issued local mandate
  • Hand sanitizing stations are encouraged at every table
  • Limited time-slot tickets for attendees

COVID policies:

You may not come to the market if you have been exposed to, have, or exhibit COVID-19 symptoms and if you have been exposed or have COVID-19, you must wait until you have a doctor’s note saying you are safe to attend.

Given current events, you should plan ahead in case anyone on your team contracts COVID-19, so that your company can still attend the market (i.e. having additional staff in case someone is sick or caring for a sick person) as we do not offer refunds and expect makers to have planned ahead during this pandemic. It takes a lot of time and organization to put on a market, so having our makers come fully prepared is incredibly important to the success of this event for everyone including attendees.

In the unlikely event that the market is canceled/postponed due to government-imposed COVID-19 ordinances, your payment is non refundable.

Disclaimer: Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present; we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during the market but ask you to take precautions to greatly decrease any possibility of exposure.

HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR THE MARKET?

Makers should bring all of their own display materials. Markets for Makers does not provide or rent tables, chairs or displays so each maker should bring their own.

You must stay within the foot print of your space:

Table space: 6ft wide x 4ft deep (we suggest a 4 or 5ft table rather than 6ft so you can exit your space)
XL Table space: 8ft wide x 4ft deep
Booth space: 10ft wide x 8ft deep

If you have any questions on the size of space you purchased, please refer to your receipt or email us at info@marketsformakers.com

If you will be in our outdoor courtyard, please bring a tent with proper weights to secure your tent in the event of rain or wind. If there are damaging winds or storms predicted on Saturday night, our team may require you to break down fully Saturday night for safety reasons.

If you are located on the 2nd floor: There is an elevator in the building. However, this elevator is meant to carry people, not freight. This is guidance directly from the venue. Under the supervision of our staff you may use the elevator to move yourself up and down the floors, but only if you are physically unable to carry your display materials and supplies up the stairs are you allowed to load the elevator with those materials. Our staff is there to help you get upstairs and into position, don’t hesitate to ask our team for assistance.

Our team made a master market checklist for indoor and outdoor markets, you can access it by CLICKING HERE. Once you open it, create a custom copy for yourself that applies to this market. For example: if you are indoors, you won’t need a tent :).

CAN I GET ELECTRICITY & WIFI?

Electricity is very limited in this venue. This venue is beautiful but older and electricity is not reliable and use of certain outlets can cause outages throughout the venue space.

Due to this, we only offer limited electricity upgrades for the Chicago market. If you did not purchase electricity as an upgrade, you will not be assigned a space with access to electricity. Please come prepared with a battery operated power source and your own LED lights to use with your own power source if needed.

Unfortunately this venue does not have designated wifi. Our team prepares with hot spots and making sure our phones are fully charged, we suggest you do the same. You can purchase wifi hot spot from your provider or another provider. We encourage you to be prepared with a hot spot and the ability to take your card reader offline.

IS THE PROPERTY SECURED AT NIGHT?

Yes. The venue is locked at night. However, Markets for Makers is not liable for your products and booth.

Please free to leave your display materials and remove your valuables at night (ex: products and cash boxes, etc).
